Six smooth sailors keeping the captain's hats on and the harmonies buttery since day one.
Arthur is one of the founding members of Yachtzee, helping start the band with Patrick at DayBlock Brewing in Minneapolis. Rooted in the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and the soulful sounds that shaped him, Arthur brings a deep musical vocabulary to everything he does. He fronts the band with warm lead vocals and shimmering guitar work that makes every yacht rock anthem feel like a sunset cruise. When he's not on the Yachtzee stage, Arthur brings that same intensity to About to Run, a Twin Cities band dedicated to the music of Trey Anastasio and Phish. A true Twin Cities original.
Angela is the voice that makes Yachtzee's smooth grooves come alive. A professional singer, songwriter, and vocal coach based in Minneapolis with over two decades of experience, her silky range glides through the breezy highs of Christopher Cross and the soulful peaks of Hall & Oates with total ease. When she's not fronting Yachtzee, you'll find her performing with the Bluewater Kings Band and Boogie Wonderland — or sharing her gift as a vocal coach and sound healer. She brings every ounce of that experience to the Yachtzee stage every single night.
Dean was born in Calcutta to a one-armed juggler and a one-legged tap dancer. Overcoming great odds, he became an alternate on the Olympic couch tossing team before enlisting in the Salvation Army, where he received a disgusting and dishonorable discharge after a brilliant 20-year career — rising all the way to the rank of Ex-PFC. He now makes his living teaching earthquake preparedness and calls Utah home, where he resides with 6 wives, 14 dogs, and a boa constrictor named Kevin. In all seriousness, Dean is a fantastic bass player and can be found playing at Tuttle's and all around the Minneapolis music scene. His stylings and improvisation set him apart as one of the best 'Yachtsmen' of all time!
Brian has been playing the saxophone for over 32 years — and it shows. From touring nationally with major acts to holding down the Twin Cities live scene, his warm, expressive tone is the secret ingredient that elevates Yachtzee from a great cover band to a full-blown yacht rock experience. When he's not on stage, Brian runs his own recording studio in Uptown Minneapolis, mixing and producing clients who come from around the world. He brings that same studio-level precision and musicality every time he picks up the horn. On a good night, his sax solo might just make you cry into your tropical cocktail.
Patrick was there from day one — a founding member who helped dream up Yachtzee at DayBlock Brewing in Minneapolis. Behind the keys, he brings warm chord voicings, silky piano beds, and a feel that makes every song land just right. He also lends his voice to the band's harmonies, filling out the smooth sound from his spot on the keys. When he's not on stage, you'll find him somewhere on a river fly fishing or out in the field hunting — the kind of guy who's equally at home in waders or behind a Rhodes.
Derek is the rhythmic heartbeat of Yachtzee — the groove-locked drummer who keeps the whole band sailing smooth. Originally from Lemoore, California, he put down roots in Minneapolis and never looked back, building a reputation in the Twin Cities as a dedicated and musical drummer. He studied Music Technology and brings that precision ear to every gig: locking in tight, playing for the song, and making complex grooves feel completely effortless. His motto says it all: "Don't dream it, be it." Off the kit, he's the one most likely to show up wearing a captain's hat before anyone else thought of it.
